We had a big story artist/vis. dev lunch meeting today. For some reason, I couldn't stop drawing. Here are some of the sketches. The two with the little fish was inspired by something an exectutive said concerning movies and the audiences. The quote was something like " We would never do a movie about a fish who lives in a house and drives a car because it would skew too young and wouln't attract that older audience." This is my attempt to prove her wrong. It's a movie about a little fish taha likes blowjobs and lap dances. Coming soon to a theater near you. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll care.

Love it. I'd see that movie. Very funny stuff.
ReplyDeleteYou should be afraid that an executive would say something so stupid, and ignorant. These people run things? Yikes.
ReplyDeleteIn my best whiny Luke Skywalker voice: "I care!".
ReplyDeletewhen I was in High School me and my friends used "fish tacos" as a euphamism for...well, you know. Where I grew up I never saw it offered as an actual food. Then when I moved to SoCal and saw ads for "Fish Tacos" advertised everywhere, I was stunned.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, there's a title for your movie maybe.
It's just like the anecdote Chuck Jones told our class when he visited Sheridan College :
ReplyDeleteOne of the management types at Warners darkened the door of the story room one day and announced , in no uncertain terms, "Bullfights are NOT funny. Let's not have any pictures about bullfights" .
AT which, Mike Maltese turned to Chuck with raised eyebrow and asked : "Charles? What's funny about a bullfight ?" and then they went on to find out and made one of the greatest cartoons ever, "Bully For Bugs" .
All because some manager proclaimed that "bullfights are NOT funny" .
Yet another pearl of executive wisdumb. I tell ya, they just don't pay these geniuses enough. Hiarious drawings, BTW.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!!!
ReplyDeleteJohn, I have heard far scarier things from execs, believe me. My David Stainton catalogue alone would turn your hair white.
I think this fish willl appear in a future Chippy and Loopus episode. I knew someone like this once. It'll write itself.
Thanks again!
Ha--brilliant lil' drawings there, my friend.
ReplyDelete...and I bet that fish has a wife and kids at home...Great work!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Way to go.
ReplyDeletedtn, thanks for the looney anecdote.
Fish tacos is a euphamism for... duh, I am so naive. Why don't I know?? Is it because I am Canadian and have never yet lived in Southern Calipornia?
ReplyDeleteContinuing my recent tradition of porn typos...but this time I saw it and decided to leave it anyways. That other one on CountFunkula's I did not see, honest.

That's a classic dumbass executive pronouncements. In fact, all pronouncements are dumb. That's my pronouncement for today.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog. One of my regular stops.
The fish idea is genius.
ReplyDeleteYou could call him "Horny Mackerel".
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!!!! And thank you Spock for the name idea! Watch for Henry "Horny" McMackeral to make an appearance in an upcoming Chippy and Loopus episode!
ReplyDeleteI love how "innocent" doodles can spawn full-fledged characters. Keep doodling Robo and post them here!! Henry McMackerel rocks! I can see him on a t-shirt!
ReplyDeletewhat the ... doesnt spongebob live in a house and drive a car ? okay, hes not a fish ... but he is the most popular cartoon character in the world right now.
ReplyDeleteim speachless. what a tupid comment. keep 'em coming, sir.
dany
Great! I'd see that movie!
ReplyDeleteDoes he get all excited and blow sperm everywhere? Fish arousal can get awkward, y'know.
ReplyDeleteDoodlers! I'm shocked! This 'Innocence' from a woman who told me a little story involving a 60s hippy-girl, hash sticks, a toilet and a moving train.
did I just say that out loud?
Warren,
ReplyDeleteOMG, did I tell you that? HarHar... yeah, those were the days...
Pardon me while I move my walker closer to the hookah.
