It's been a long time...

...Since I've posted here. I've been busy busy busy on the movie I was working on, and then suddenly the movie was put on hold. So with a few days free, I decided to come back here with a fresh, half-ass Searle rip-off drawing.
The idea was, I was thinking of the inhabitants of a small, medieval village. There were the serfs, and lords and various different members of any small village. I decided to start with a local bishop of the church. I will try to do more in the coming weeks. The thing is, I'm starting a new project this week, so we'll see how it goes. Anyway, it feels good to just get something up here in the meantime, even though I'm not really not very happy with the color. I really need a new Mac. Painter is really starting to run slowly on the old Mac now. Time for a new Mac Pro. (Oh sweet money, come to daddy!) I got frustrated with the slowness of the watercolor brush in Painter, so I started to get sloppy.

More Cavemen

More sketches for the new strip. I modeled one of them loosely on good pal Sony Story Artist Kaan Kaylon.
Guess which one?

More Meetings More Caricatures

It's hard out here for a pimp...to get his brakes done.

Driving to work this morning I was startled by the "bling" of non other than The Bishop Don Magic Juan. Momentarily blinded by the bling I some how managed to reach for my camera and snap a pic...yes today I win.

It's Magical!!!!!

Our cousins to the north have started their own storyboard artist blog! It was newly birthed so it's a little light on content but they're awesome so I'm expecting to see some rad things in the near future (no pressure). Pay them a visit and show them some love.

Joe Potato

Catholic School Bad Girls

So right before a story/vis dev meeting we were talking to Jessica the vis dev APM and she told us stories about her adventures in an all-girl Catholic High School. I'm going to e-mail this to the Pope right now.

The Batchelor!!!..and some other stuff...

Yes, I watch the Bathelor. I think greedy girls who cry are funny. This latest Batchelor is funny himself. He's a doctor, a naval officer and an iron man triathelete, and yet he still looks like a giant 8 year old. That's why I am compelled to draw him.
This other stuff is for a comic strip I'm developing that will eventually run on the old "Phloo!" blog, when it's ready.
It has cavemen in it, and also a dinosaur.
It'll pop up one of these days.

BULLDOGS!!!

I have an English Bulldog named Pogo. He's a big, friendly oaf. One of the things that always frustrated me about cartoon bulldogs are for tyhe most part just re-treads and rip-offs of the Preson Blair bulldog, drawn without ever actually looking at a real bulldog. You can caricature them a bunch of different ways, if you just look at them.

TalkaDoodle

Drawn while talking to Bobopoly this morning. It bears no resemblance to what we were actually talking about but I guess it's an insight to what sickness resides in my subconscious. Next stop, insane asylum!! Brush pen and grey markers.

My Vestigal Twin!!

Here is what happened: Ken Bruce drew a brutal caricature of me in a meeting yesterday. True to form, my response was to draw an even uglier version of myself. Our head of story said that Ken's drawing reminded him of that creepy vetigal twin in "Total Recall". That was all I needed to hear. I think Vestigal twins are neat.

Star Whores

(artwork by Bobopoly)

So I went to the Star Wars exibit at the California Science Center this past Sunday. It was cool to see all of the props and costumes from the movies, like the full-sized and and miniature model of Luke's landspeeder (Obi Wan has no legs!!!)

and the HUGE Millenium Falcon and x-wing. Geektopia for sure. I was shooting some digital pics when I remembered reading somewhere that when they built the Rebel Blockade Runner the modelers put a special surprise in the cockpit. So I bent down, snapped this shot and guess what I saw....

There's a joke here somewhere. Any suggestions?

And now for this commercial break...

It was a fun exhibit and I highly reccomend it. Just plan for long lines. The funny thing was that there were more adults than children!

Saved From Oblivion!!

See this is what I'm talking about right here. This is an example of those bits of magic you just throw away and it never sees the light of day??? Probably ending up in the shredder even? Well I rescued this baby yesterday when Bobopoly tossed it in the recycle bin after a screening. Ha! The ghost of scribbles past coming back to haunt you! They're too good to throw away right?

TV coma

Sorry I've been off in a tv land- so I sketched a few kids from AI to force myself to draw a little.
